Kayak instruction has evolved from primitive days. The roots of kayaking go back to the Eskimos, who depended on them for survival. Kayaks began being used for recreation in the United States 100 years ago. Those kayaks were much different from today's models. Kayaking popularity has grown incredibly since the first plastic kayaks were made in the early 1970's. More people than ever are kayaking today. Come learn with us.
We offer classes for the beginner who has never been
on the water, the intermediate who just needs some
fine tuning, and the expert/advanced students ready
to shoot down water falls, slip through the small cracks,
or learn all the stylish rodeo maneuvers.
Because of the personalized nature of our lessons, reservations should be made at least 2 weeks in advance of your trip date.
Complete beginner kayak instruction course is 2 days long.1/2 day, 1 day, and 2 day lessons available. Remember to bring water and something to eat for full day lessons.
We also sell new and used kayaks, canoes, rafts and professional river gear. Kayak Shack
